Lorne Michaels hearts Chris Dodd and more
More Caucus gold. SNL presidente Lorne Michaels has donated $2,300 to the McCain campaign and $4,600 to Dodd!

Where the hell do those guys overlap? Let’s see…
Not Iraq. Not civil liberties ACLU-style, though they both oppose gay marriage and support civil unions (positions not even close to unique to these two fellas in American politics). Not social security. Not trade. Not abortion. Not labor. Not the death penalty. They do agree on drugs (but their opposition to marijuana would seem in conflict with Michaels’ early SNL style). Basically, what they seem to have in common is that they’re aging white guys with white hair.
But Michaels has made no donations to Biden, so that can’t be it. Further into the Internet we go!
Poltics TV Funhouse! TV Funhouse! (Come back here with my contribution records!) Man, the intrigue just doesn’t end. Here’s more information on Michaels’ donatin’:
We’ve got some more Dodd — he’s been a Dodd fan since at least ‘92, it appears, which would make some sense of his donating to the Connecticut senator’s presidential campaign now, and I’d guess Michaels probably has a place in Conecticut, right? — some Straight Talk America, some Bob Graham (Florida?), Bill Bradley, a little Nader.
And of course some recent big-money donations to the Midwest Values PAC and its head honcho Al Franken — $4,300, all told in the effort to get the former SNL writer and performer elected to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate.
Well, turns out there’s just not that much that’s weird here, beyond contributing to some pretty wildly different presidential candidates. But even that isn’t too weird. Hell, I did a search on donations from the 90210 zip code — just because it’s a zip code that pops to mind easily — and found one woman who had donated to Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Sam Brownback.
Even better, when donating to the two Democratic candidates, she listed her occupation as “Clinical Therapist” and “Clinical Social Worker,” but when she donated to the Republican Brownback, she listed herself as a “homemaker.”
