About Dave

the bio

Dave Burdick was born in Boulder, Colorado, at the magical age of ten. To make up for missed birthdays, he immediately had ten tenth birthday parties, making him one hundred years old. He retired and traveled in search of the world’s finest milkshake. He found it in southern California. Then he ran out of money* and un-retired.

In Colorado, he hosted a few different weekly stand-up shows, created the Secret Circus and co-hosted the popular Denver show Freak Train. He also appeared occasionally on Radio 1190 to make fun of real things that happened.

Now in New York City, he hosts a show called the Secret Sideshow. The Sideshow brings together essayists, musicians and comedians to create a tasty little smoothie of entertainment. You can put echinacea in it if you want, but it’s pretty good for you as is.

He will tell jokes for you at your location. Just ask.

more stuff

Dave also says things into microphones upon request, writes screenplays, novels and works on non-fiction relating to being 22 years old and already on the tail end of a career. Or possibly the business end of a career. One end or another, at any rate. Here are possible titles for possible works:

  • I peed next to a Wookiee and other tales from my one-year career
  • En Garde: how a high school fencing team robbed a bank and went to nationals
  • Checking out - a movie about adjusting to a life in organized crime at the supermarket

If you are a high-, medium- or even low-powered mogul of any kind and would be interested in learning more about these works, all of which are completely finished in Dave’s head (with the exception of “Checking Out,” which is finished on paper and is bound and ready to be sent out to whomever, whenever), contact Dave by e-mail.

*DAVE’S NOTE: The shake and I hit it off, married and moved back to Colorado, where tragedy struck: A Vegan activist shot and killed my beloved milkshake, leaving me with only my cap in my hand and my typewriter in my heart. To this day, I dictate everything I write to a talented heart surgeon who types it out with precise medical instruments while I am unconscious. It’s a pretty okay time.

  3. We will miss you Dave Burdick. Boulder won’t be the same. Go with those capricious gods. Sometimes they’re all we have. Very best to you, The Winters
