News and entertainment know what’s best. Let’s listen to them.

About the blog

This blog is about how cute news and entertainment are when they fight.

People ask me kind of all the time what my dream job is. This is a symptom of having graduated with a degree in Writing, Literature and Publishing, which is at once specific (I want to write) and hopelessly vague (but what?). Happily, I came up with an answer to this question in high school:

I want to sit around a table with some of my best friends, collaborate on either great or funny ideas, and work hard. Also at this table, I would like for there to be pizza, a great many sandwiches or even Chinese food.

Since college, I have had the following jobs, all of which at times approximated parts of that mission: reporter, columnist, stand-up comedian and marketer. I was OK at all of them, but my favorite was reporting, so now I’m learning how to do that better. But in the summer of 2007, what struck me was just how interrelated all of my seemingly different jobs had been.

So that’s what we’re looking at. If you believe the hype, the news industry is in dire straits. If you watch TV, you know that ain’t right, either. So. Let’s get to work.
